Three days after bringing my newborn daughter home, my husband locked me out of the

As I stood outside the imposing iron gates of what was once my sanctuary, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness. The rain had slowed to a drizzle, and little Ivy shifted slightly in my arms, her tiny fingers curling around her blanket. I took a deep breath and began to walk towards the street, the distant sound of Molly’s car getting closer.

Sure enough, a familiar car pulled up a few minutes later. Molly jumped out and rushed to my side, her eyes filled with concern. She wrapped an arm around me, careful not to disturb Ivy, and guided me into the passenger seat. The warmth of the car was a welcome relief from the cold, wet air outside.

“Are you okay?” Molly asked softly, glancing at Ivy and then back at me.

I nodded, though my heart felt heavy. “I will be,” I replied, trying to muster a reassuring smile. “It’s just… a lot to take in.”

Molly’s eyes softened as she started the car, and we drove away from the house that had been my pride and joy for so long. As we wound through the familiar streets of Boulder, I couldn’t help but think about all the memories I was leaving behind.

Molly reached over and gave my hand a squeeze. “You know you’re always welcome at my place,” she said. “We’ll figure this out together.”

“Thank you, Molly,” I said, my voice filled with gratitude. Knowing I wasn’t alone provided a comfort I couldn’t fully express.

When we arrived at her house, Molly helped me settle Ivy into a cozy makeshift crib in the living room. The room was filled with soft, warm light, and for the first time since Brent had locked me out, I felt a sense of peace.

As Ivy slept, I caught up with Molly over a cup of tea. We talked about everything and nothing, the way sisters do. Finally, I filled her in on my conversation with Jennifer and the potential sale of the mansion. Molly’s eyes lit up with determination.

“Good for you, Tessa,” she said. “He doesn’t deserve to have any part of what you’ve built. You can start fresh, build something new for you and Ivy.”

Her words were a balm to my weary soul. Talking to Molly gave me the strength to face what lay ahead. I knew this was just the beginning of a new chapter in my life, one that I would write on my own terms.

As night fell, I tucked Ivy in next to me, her soft breathing a gentle reminder of what truly mattered. I felt a renewed sense of purpose. Whatever challenges lay ahead, I knew I could face them with Ivy by my side.

But the story wasn’t over yet. There was more to come, more to fight for, and more to discover.
