I Found My Ex, Who Disappeared 6 Years Ago, Asleep at an International Airport With

**Part 2**

As I stood there, the chaotic noise of the airport seemed to fade into the background. All I could focus on was Rosalind and the two little boys who resembled me so much. Her words echoed in my mind, “Your mother never told you, did she?”

I took a deep breath, trying to steady the storm of emotions swirling inside me. “Told me what, Rosalind?” I asked softly, not wanting to alarm the children.

She hesitated, looking at the boys, then back at me. “Christopher, I wanted to tell you, but your mother made sure I couldn’t. She… she promised to ruin my life if I ever tried to contact you.”

The weight of her words hit me like a tidal wave. My mother, Genevieve, had always been a formidable woman, but this? The thought of her manipulating the situation to this extent filled me with anger and disbelief.

“Why?” I whispered, though I wasn’t sure if I was asking Rosalind or myself.

Rosalind shook her head, tears brimming in her eyes. “She believed I wasn’t good enough for you. She said our relationship would tarnish your family’s reputation, and that I should just disappear.”

I felt a surge of anger towards my mother, mixed with guilt for having believed her so blindly. “I had no idea,” I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. “I thought you had left by choice.”

Rosalind’s eyes softened, though the pain and fear were still evident. “I never wanted to leave, Christopher,” she said. “I had to protect our children.”

Our children. The words resonated within me, filling me with a sense of responsibility and a growing desire to protect them. I glanced at the boys, who were now watching us with wide, curious eyes.

“Can we go somewhere private to talk?” I suggested, wanting to understand everything that had happened during those lost years.

Rosalind nodded, still holding the boys close. We moved to a quieter corner of the airport where we could speak without interruption.

Once we were settled, she began to recount the past six years. She told me about the struggles she faced as a single mother, the sacrifices she made to provide for our sons, and the constant fear of being discovered by my family.

I listened intently, my heart aching with every word. I realized how much she had endured, and how much I had missed as their father. But now, I was determined to make up for it.

“Rosalind, I want to be part of their lives,” I said earnestly. “I want to be there for you and for them.”

She looked at me, hope and uncertainty mingling in her gaze. “Are you sure, Christopher? This won’t be easy.”

I nodded, resolute. “I am sure. We can face whatever comes next — together.”

As we continued to talk, I knew there were still many questions to be answered and challenges to face, particularly with my mother. But I was ready to confront them head-on.

As we prepared to leave the airport, I felt a sense of hope for the first time in years. I knew it would take time to rebuild what had been lost, but I was committed to making it work.

Before we parted ways, we agreed to meet again soon. I wanted to get to know the boys, to be a father to them, and to support Rosalind in any way I could.

As I watched them walk away, I felt a mixture of emotions — relief, anticipation, and a lingering sense of urgency. There was much more to uncover about the past and to build for the future.
