“Let me have him—I’m pregnant,” my sister announced as she walked down the aisle at

As the room remained silent, I turned to Sebastian, my heart racing. “Why not make today an unexpected celebration?” I suggested with a slight smile. He raised an eyebrow, curious but intrigued.

“What do you have in mind?” he asked, keeping his voice low.

I took a deep breath. “Marry me instead,” I said, repeating my initial, impulsive words from earlier. The room gasped collectively, and I noticed curious glances exchanged among guests.

Sebastian chuckled softly, a sound that seemed to lighten the tension in the air. “Well, that’s certainly one way to turn the day around,” he replied with a hint of amusement.

“Is that a yes?” I asked, unable to keep the edge of hope from my voice.

He considered me, his expression thoughtful. “It would certainly be memorable,” he said finally, offering a gentle smile. “But a decision like this deserves more than a spur-of-the-moment choice.”

In that moment, I realized he was right. The calm in his eyes reminded me that clarity and strength could come from unexpected places. I nodded, understanding what he meant. “You’re right. Today, let’s just focus on celebrating life and new beginnings, whatever they might be.”

The church remained quiet, the weight of my words settling in. Then, gradually, warmth spread through the room. Laura stood up again, clapping her hands together. “A toast to new beginnings!” she called out, and others began to join in, applause rippling through the church.

I looked at my parents, who both seemed relieved and supportive. My mother gave me a small nod, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. My father offered a thumbs-up, a gesture that meant more than words could say.

Danielle remained standing in the aisle, uncertainty etched across her face. Ryan shuffled awkwardly beside her, clearly uncomfortable. I stepped toward them, feeling an odd sense of peace.

“Danielle,” I began gently, “we’ve always been there for each other, and I hope we can find a way through this too.”

She looked at me with a mixture of relief and regret. “Victoria, I… I’m sorry,” she said, her voice cracking.

I nodded, accepting her words. It wasn’t a perfect resolution, but it was a start. “Let’s make sure the future is something we’re all proud of,” I replied softly.

Ryan attempted to speak, but I held up a hand. “We need time, Ryan. For now, let’s just let today be.”

He nodded, understanding that this was not the time or place for more words. Instead, he joined the others in the growing celebration.

As laughter and conversation filled the church, I felt a lightness I hadn’t expected. The day had taken a turn none of us anticipated, but it was a turn toward healing and hope.

Sebastian returned to my side. “You handled that well,” he commented with an approving nod.

I smiled, grateful for his presence. “Thank you for reminding me of what really matters,” I said sincerely.

“Sometimes, unexpected paths lead to the best destinations,” he replied warmly.

Laura approached, holding two glasses of champagne. She handed one to me and the other to Sebastian. “To Victoria,” she toasted, “for showing us all what true strength looks like.”

I raised my glass, feeling gratitude swelling in my chest. “To the people who help us find it,” I responded, clinking my glass against theirs.

As the day unfolded around us, I knew this was just the beginning. There was more healing and discovery ahead, and I was ready to face it all.
