A frightened little girl called 911 and whispered, “Daddy says IT’S LOVE … BUT IT’S

Three days had passed since Ashley was taken to the hospital, and the neighborhood was still buzzing with speculation about Andrew’s disappearance. The sound of rain had subsided, leaving behind a somber, gray mist that clung to the streets like a cold reminder of the recent storm.

Officer Natalie couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. She had spent countless hours piecing together Andrew’s last known movements. His friends said he was a devoted father, always putting Ashley’s needs above his own. Yet, the rumor mill churned on, painting him as a man who had abandoned his child.

Natalie decided to retrace Andrew’s steps, hoping to find a clue that others had missed. She drove out to the site where the blue pickup had been found. The road was still closed off, the guardrail twisted where the truck had gone over. She stepped out of her cruiser and walked carefully through the mud, scanning the area for anything unusual.

A piece of torn fabric caught her eye, snagged on a bush near the edge of the drop. It was a faded blue, matching the color of the shirt Andrew was last seen wearing. She snapped a photo with her phone and made a note to have it analyzed. It seemed like Andrew might have survived the crash, but where had he gone?

Back in town, the hospital had good news about Ashley. She was recovering well, though malnourished and dehydrated. The doctors assured Natalie that with care, Ashley would be fine. Natalie visited Ashley every day, bringing small gifts and stories to lift her spirits. Ashley often asked about her dad, eyes hopeful, and Natalie promised they were doing everything they could to find him.

Meanwhile, the rumors continued to spread on social media, with people demanding answers. Natalie knew she had to find Andrew not only for Ashley’s sake but to set the record straight.

One morning, as Natalie was about to leave for another search, she received a call from a local hiker. He reported seeing a man who matched Andrew’s description near an old cabin in the woods outside town. The area was remote, a place where cell signals faded and the world felt forgotten.

Natalie arranged for a search team and headed out immediately. The path to the cabin was overgrown, the woods dense and silent except for the crunch of leaves underfoot. When they finally reached the clearing, Natalie called out, “Andrew! It’s Officer Natalie. We’re here to help!”

There was a pause, then the cabin door creaked open. A man stepped out, looking worse for wear, with a bandaged head and his clothes torn. It was Andrew.

“I didn’t abandon her,” he said, voice thick with emotion. “I tried to climb back up the road for help, but I got lost. I’ve been trying to make my way back.”

Natalie felt a wave of relief. She approached slowly, offering him water and a reassuring smile. “Ashley’s safe and getting better. She’s been asking about you.”

Tears filled Andrew’s eyes. He nodded, grateful and exhausted, and allowed the paramedics to check him over. As they prepared to take him to the hospital, Natalie made a mental note of everything she’d need to clear his name.

Back in town, the news of Andrew’s rescue began to circulate. The comments on social media shifted from doubt to relief, though Natalie knew it would take time to mend the damage done by the assumptions and rumors.

For now, the focus was on reuniting a father with his daughter. As Ashley and Andrew prepared to see each other again, Natalie felt a sense of fulfillment. But she also knew there was more to uncover about what had happened the night of the storm and why things had gone so wrong.

The investigation was far from over, and the truth was still unfolding. There are more secrets to unveil and mysteries to solve. If you want to continue following Ashley and Andrew’s story, please leave a ‘DAD’ comment below and let us know your thoughts! Stay tuned for Part 3.
